Since the age of 18 I have been involved as a volunteer with a range of different third sector organisations both in the youth and adult sectors. These roles have included being a trustee and the Chair of   a number of charities, all with a different focus, as well as providing free consultancy services into small voluntary organisations .At the present time,  I currently hold one  trustee role  and I am also the Chair of two other charities.

Chair of the Board of trustees of YMCA Liverpool and Sefton

Dates Sep 2002 – Sep 2020 .

Here I led a dynamic Board which transformed the way people who found themselves to be homeless in Liverpool, are supported.  I was responsible in setting the strategic agenda for the organisation and managing the chief executive officers. The organisation grew every year as did our funding.

Chair Of the Board Of Trustees

Dates: May 2020 – Present

In this role I am leading the Board to bring about service change, so we expand to meet the increasing demand for support from some of the most vulnerable people in Bootle. To this end we liaise with several funders and potential funders, but my main contribution, in addition to holding together an effective board, is to liaise with health and social care commissioners plus local practitioners and other voluntary sector organisations, so we can work constructively together in partnership to provide the very best possible support to the greatest number of people in the way they want to be supported.

The Scouts

Dates: Apr 2020 – Present

We have a thriving scout group and my role here is primarily to provide the Board support to the scout leader and her staff, in addition to the usual chair roles in youth organisations of giving out awards and leading various events.

Dates: October 2021 – Present

Compass is a specialist counselling service which is available to people across Merseyside who have complex needs.

My main role here is to forge partnerships between Compass and the statutory sector and other non-statutory sector organisations, in addition to the usual role of a trustee.
